Annual General Meeting 2024

Murieston Community Development Trust held its first Annual General Meeting on 27th April 2024, allowing members to review the first 9 months of the Trust since it was established and to elect trustees to serve for the time until the next AGM. AGM’s will be held in January each year starting from January 2025. Minutes of this meeting will be published later.

The agenda was:

  4. Treasurer’s report
  5. Approval of accounts to date
  6. Appointment of independent examiner for next year
  7. Future plans for Murieston
  8. Election of trustees for 2024-25
  9. Any other business

Progress to date has been:

  • July 2023: established as OSCR SCIO (9 months ago)
    • Constitution allows community ownership/asset transfer
  • October 2023: charity launched
    • Website and Facebook page set up
    • Banking facilities in place
  • December 2023/January 2024: first funding received
    • West Lothian Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund (£5000 for café equipment and AV equipment)
    • West Lothian Development Trust (£2000 for running costs and café equipment)
    • Councillor disbursements
    • Personal donations
  • February 2024: launched Murieston community information hub website: https://murieston.org.uk
    • Welcome information for new residents, local events and hall booking information for everyone
    • Will help all local groups advertise events
  • March 2024: bought audio-visual equipment for Hall events
    • Projector, screen, and speakers
    • Plan events one weekend a month – wine-tastings, bar, music, film, etc. (partnership with Murieston Initiative)
  • April 2024: launched Murieston Community Café
    • 10 am – 12 noon on Saturdays in Murieston Village Hall (partnership with Murieston Initiative)
  • April 2024: Adopt-a-Station
    • £1460 funding from ScotRail to adopt a section of Livingston South station
    • Partnership with Murieston Community Garden, MEG, Rotary Club of Livingston
  • January-April 2024: Local Place Plan in progress
    • to influence West Lothian Local Development Plan
